A standard element of UltraVet's work is the use of X-ray and ultrasound machines to diagnose patients. Radiological and ultrasound examinations allow for painless, non-invasive and safe for animals detection of various health problems.
A standard element of UltraVet's work is the use of X-ray and ultrasound machines to diagnose patients. We use digital radiology, which allows us to obtain images of the highest quality, preserving the smallest details. An additional advantage of X-ray and ultrasound examinations is the fact that we have the image on the monitor screen after a few seconds.
X-ray examination of animals is primarily a basic examination in the diagnosis of the musculoskeletal system and post-traumatic (e.g. after accidents and falls from a height). As a result, our doctors are able to better recognize the patient's condition. In addition, the x-ray image also plays a special role in detecting hip dysplasia and should be performed for the first time in three-month-old puppies of breeds that are particularly vulnerable to this disease (medium and large dogs).
Radiography is also used to image the chest, e.g. when inflammation and tumors are suspected, and in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal obstruction (abdominal X-ray). In recent years, significant progress has been made in the field of dental x-ray of animals. Dental X-ray allows to determine the presence of permanent tooth buds, to detect various dentition defects, to diagnose the causes of loosening of the teeth and swelling of the mouth, as well as to assess the filling after root canal treatment.
Ultrasound examination of animals is performed primarily in the diagnosis of diseases of internal organs. Using an ultrasound scanner, doctors at UltraVet are able to observe the image in real time. The examination allows the veterinarian to assess the structure and size of organs, as well as to detect possible changes (e.g. tumors).
A Doppler ultrasound (showing blood flow through the heart vessels) is one of the basic tests performed in animal cardiology. Sound waves are safe for our pets, therefore ultrasound examination of animals is also performed to confirm pregnancy and during the management of pregnant females.
At UltraVet, we especially encourage early diagnosis of hip and elbow dysplasia.
